Trident CrossFit is a team of passionate, committed and dynamic trainers. Each of our trainers loves nothing more than changing people’s lives through fitness. Although we pride ourselves on our knowledge, experience and continual efforts to improve through independent study, certifications, and courses, we are most proud of our ability to connect with and motivate our clients. Trident CrossFit is an organic result of our passion for training and community. To paraphrase Greg Glassman, your athletes will let you know when it’s time to get a larger space. Our athletes have spoken and inspired us to finally take the step to open our own space.

I started CrossFit in New England in 2011 and started coaching in 2012. I come from a background of teaching snowboarding and sailboat racing, so becoming a coach was a natural progression for me. I love that CrossFit allows people of all levels and abilities to work out together. The motivation people gain from each other is amazing.

I moved to Virginia and joined Trident in 2014, and have loved every minute! It is a fun and welcoming community of people.

My CrossFit journey started with ‘Fight Gone Bad’….yes, 15 minutes of wall balls, shoulder presses, box jumps, rowing and SDHP. It was one of the hardest workouts I have ever done, and yet it was also one of the most exciting. I was hooked! When I was moving from Las Vegas to Virginia, a coach at CrossFit 702 said “you should try out Trident CrossFit in Old Town Alexandria, you will find a new home there”…it was so TRUE. I walked into Trident for a 12:30 class and knew I had found the place to continue my CrossFit journey. The coaches and community of Trident have become a huge part of my life.
I have been active and an athlete all my life. I grew up playing soccer, volleyball and softball; and have always worked out in some fashion whether it was running, weight lifting and lots of time in local gyms. CrossFit has proven to be the most fun, hardest, exciting and challenging adventure; I feel I am in better shape now than in any time in my life.
When I was asked to be a blue shirt, I was truly honored. CrossFit has changed my perspective on health and wellness and even goal setting. I feel like as a blue shirt, I have the opportunity to share my love of CrossFit and give back to the community I have come to love and appreciate.
CrossFit is many things to many people and that I believe is the beauty of it. It fits so many people and any one can find a way to meet their own expectations. I am excited to see how my journey at Trident and with CrossFit will continue.

I’m a PROUD native Washingtonian. A career Navy guy, I retired in ’11.
I never thought of myself as “athletic” but I did play high school and intramural college sports.
I first heard about CrossFit in 2009. I knew a couple of colleagues that were into it but “knew it wasn’t for me.” (WRONG). Fast forward to 2012; I needed to do something because I got tired of avoiding mirrors in my own house. I have hooked been since my baseline.
I was honored to be asked to join the coaching staff at Trident. Watching people improve and feel better about themselves, and knowing I had even a small part in that, is the “juice” to me. Coaching has given me the ability to give back to the community and box that had given so much to me.
Trident CrossFit is so much more than a gym, a WOD, etc. It is a family. There is no Kool-Aid; just the desire and hard work you’re willing to put into it. The individual decides what CrossFit will be to them and the coaches and community will be there to support and help them to become the best athlete they want to be.

“Ready Ready…3…2…1…GO!” gets me every time.

As a parent, educator, and athlete I have never come to the end of a day believing there was nothing I could improve upon tomorrow. I came to Trident in October 2011, at the beginning of multiple life-changing events and the coaches created for me a reflective practice to get Fit, Fast & Strong in all aspects of my life. Many aspects of life changed since then and Trident was there through all of it; ending & beginning relationships, parenthood, career promotions, setbacks and loss. Well, Trident was directly responsible for the loss of 30 pounds and transforming my body.

I love sharing my Trident journey in our baseline class when folks come in with their hopes of becoming more. When I went through my own baseline assessment, I was asked, “Why Trident?” It was because Trident seemed the most community-oriented in the area. Now, countless friends later I am so impressed by the tapestry of diversity wrapped around a shared vision of self-improvement to impact our world.

As an educator, I’m an elementary school Principal, so it was a natural progression to become a coach starting first with CrossFit Kids. Working with preschool and school aged children to push, pull, jump and run is simply the best our anatomy has to offer. They are open and able to move in a way that highlights the body’s strength and flexibility. Oh, and they are tremendously honest and funny!

From there, I moved to coaching adults and that is when I realized the only place in my world where every person in the room truly wants to be there besides home (I don’t have teenagers yet) is Trident! I enjoy the camaraderie and the honesty our Trident athletes have for their journey both within our walls and as they bring Fit, Fast & Strong to their lives. I look forward to meeting and working with you as I live my self-improvement journey and impact yours!

Besides being a proud Blue Shirt at Trident, I’m the loving wife of a CrossFitter, step-mom to four athletic girls, Principal of Cameron Elementary and Alternative Learning Center and grateful for all life has to offer.

A lifelong athlete, I was always on the lookout for new fitness challenges, rotating through running, yoga, swimming, cycling, or whatever crazy new extreme workout was promising to take it to the next level. After finding CrossFit, I was amazed at the benefits of such short workouts! Lifting, and lifting heavy, has changed my body more than I ever thought possible, but more importantly it has changed my mind – the mental strength you gain through pushing through intense WODs and moving weight around like I never thought possible has helped me in every area of my life.
I like to relax through long, slow cardio on my own time, so my favorite workouts are those that are short, intense and heavy! Being at Trident makes working your weaknesses FUN.
My best advice to those new to CrossFit is to SETTLE IN. Even as a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer with years of CrossFit under my belt, I am still learning a lot of these movements. As much as I’d love a string a kipping pull-ups and the perfect power clean to show up over night, it requires patience and commitment.
When I’m not at Trident, you’ll find me commuting back and forth to DC with the thousands of other lawyers around, sneaking kale into my husband’s dinners, and hanging out in Del Ray!

I found CrossFit in late 2009 as I was preparing to enter the military. I used CrossFit training principles and methodologies to prepare me for my Officer Basic Course and a follow-on military school. Over the years my interest in physical training continued to grow, and in 2011 I earned my Level 1 Trainer certificate. Since that time, I have continued to expand my knowledge and understanding of human movement and have sought opportunities to share that knowledge with others.

I joined Trident CrossFit as a member in July of 2015. In September 2015, I joined its staff as an assistant coach and quickly came to appreciate the coaching team’s attention to detail and unapologetic enforcement of safe movement standards. The Trident owners and coaches take their responsibilities seriously, constantly seeking ways to improve themselves as a means to better serve the Trident community. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this team, and I’m proud to be a contributing member of the coaching staff.
